Genworth Grant Applications

Grant applications are by invitation only. If your organization has not received funding in the past year and would like to be considered for an invitation after review of the grant criteria and eligibility requirements below, please email us at genworthfoundation.genworth@genworth.com.

General Criteria for Evaluation

General criteria for evaluation include, but are not limited to:

• Demonstrated need/opportunity for proposed project

• Organization history and leadership capability

• Track record of implementing effective programs

• Financial position and sources of income

• Ability to generate sustainable, measurable outcomes

• Willingness to partner and collaborate with others

• Overall strength and clarity of the proposal and supporting documents

Geographic Area for Consideration

Our grant contributions are directed to the following areas, given our employee bases in those locations.

• Richmond, VA (including Henrico, Chesterfield, and Hanover counties)

• Lynchburg, VA (including Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell counties)

• Raleigh, NC (including Wake and Durham counties)

• Stamford, CT

Specific Focus Area Criteria

The Genworth Foundation provides grants to global non-profits that are addressing key social issues, promoting collaboration and partnership, and making sustainable long-term impacts. Our focus areas are those that align with our businesses, including affordable housing, homelessness, healthy aging, and supporting caregivers. Within each of these focus areas, we fund programs that target specific outcomes.

These criteria and outcomes include:

Healthy Aging and Caregiver Support

• Enriching the lives of older adults

• Providing access to information and resources on health and aging

• Enabling independent living

• Supporting respite and family caregivers

Affordable Housing and Homelessness

• Supporting safety net services that provide temporary shelter

• Investing in long-term sustainable solutions for individuals and families to have access to affordable housing and support services

• Preventing foreclosures and providing counseling to help low-income homeowners stay in their homes

Additional Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must be a nonprofit, charitable organization tax-exempt under section 501(c)3 of the US Internal Revenue Code. All applicants must comply with the USA Patriot Act and may not discriminate on the basis of a person's race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status or other characteristic protected by law.

Grants will not be made to:

• Political, labor, fraternal/social organizations or civic clubs

• Religious organizations for sectarian or evangelic purposes

• Third parties seeking donations on behalf of nonprofit organizations

• Sports, athletic, recreational or little leagues

• Grant to individuals

• Advertising activities

• Development or production of books, films, videos, radio or TV programs

• Private foundations (corporate or family)

• Endowments or memorials
